Innovative Industry-Leading Build

Designed and built by Forest Garden – the UK’s biggest manufacturer of timber garden products – this top-of-the-range garden office is made from innovative Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs). Previously only used in new homes, SIPs have an advanced construction which creates a garden office that is fully insulated, energy efficient and suitable for comfortable year round use. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter, the Xtend is a true alternative to a home extension. Plus, Forest have used SIPs for the roof and floor as well as the walls for a top-to-bottom insulation that you’ll find hard to match with other brands.

The Walls

Each wall SIP is 97mm thick and consists of a 75mm layer of installation which is then sandwiched between two sheets of OSB (oriented strand board).

On the inside of the wall SIPs is a layer of MDF interior cladding which has an attractive vertical beaded profile for a timeless finish. It comes ready primed for you to paint with standard emulsion paint.

To the exterior of the wall SIPS, 15mm tongue and groove cladding provides further insulation and a handsome, weathertight finish. This makes the walls an extraordinary 177mm thick. The 28mm wall battens leave sufficient room for electrical wiring.

Floor

The robust 108mm SIP floor adds to the insulation and is protected by wrapped floor bearers which keep the floor raised from ground damp. The floor surface is left uncovered, allowing you to finish it to your own taste with carpet, laminate or other flooring material.

Roof

The 122mm pent SIP roof provides even further insulation and has a black EPDM weatherproof covering. This modern alternative to roof felt has an incredible 50-year life expectancy. It is made from thick, UV-stabilised rubber, which won’t fade, crack or suffer with moss growth. What’s more, it is completely maintenance free, saving you time and money. The roof is completed by anthracite grey fascias in line with the contemporary style of this garden home office. For the convenience of adding electrics, the 45mm roof battens create space for adding recess lights.

Door and Windows

A double-glazed, UPVC reinforced door, secured by a 7-point lock provides access and keeps expensive items secure. The 3 full-length, double-glazed windows allow plenty of natural light inside. The side window pane comes with a quarter-height opening window. The door and windows all have grey grained outer and smooth white inner frames, making for an exceptionally attractive appearance. A window vent helps maintain the pleasant working environment.

Assembly

The garden building is supplied with all of the necessary fixtures and fittings, exterior facias and clear instructions to help you achieve a straightforward assembly. Alternatively, choose Forest Garden’s professional installation service as an optional upgrade and everything will be done for you by their expert fitters. Please note that Forest Garden do not provide an electrician service. The walls and roof are, however, designed with space for wiring. Energy Efficiency

With thick insulated walls, floor and roof plus double glazing throughout, this insulated garden room has an energy efficiency rating of 78 (category C). It can reach 82 (category B) by adding a solar PV panel. The energy rating is based on lighting from three 4W LED bulbs and heating from a high efficiency wall mounted heat pump.

Maintenance

Each Xtend Insulated Garden Office comes with a manufacturer’s 15 year structural guarantee. The timber comes untreated; it should be treated upon assembly and yearly thereafter. Forest Garden recommend the following treatment products: Restol Wood Oil, Sikkens Cetol HLS Plus, Timmersol ETS Double Protectant, Osmo Country Colour or Osmo Natural Oil Wood Stain.
