What is the best way to clean a wood burning stove?

We believe that the best way to clean a wood burning stove is to use a paper towel and some fine ash. To clean the stove, you should follow these steps:

1. Slightly wet a paper towel.
2. Dip the paper towel into some fine ash.
3. Lightly rub the glass with the ash in circular motions.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 until the glass is completely clear.
5. Use a dry paper towel to dry the glass.

Following the steps above will ensure the cleanest possible fire.

Should I buy a product to clean my stove?

There are many products available to buy which claim to speed up the cleaning process. These are often a spray that can be applied directly to the glass. These products speed up the process but, in our experience, do not perform any better than using fine ash. On top of that, ash is free!

Does WD40 Work When Cleaning My Stove?

You should not use WD40 for cleaning the glass on your stove. You should only use the methods referred to above to clean the glass. However, you can use WD40 to clean the hearth by adding a small amount of WD40 to some kitchen role and wiping gently across it. Using this method should bring some sheen and brightness back to your stove.
